2018-2019 Season: "New Beginnings"

Westlake Theatre is proud to present the 2018-2019 season of productions, "New Beginnings."  We're movers, shakers, dreamers of dreams, and this year is all about beginning new traditions, celebrating old classics, and finding ways to get as many new people involved in our art as possible.  We invite you all to join us for all of our events this year!  Check out all the information below for more details.

WESTLAKE IMPROV TROUPE & "Newbie night"

Join us for the kickoff to our 2018-2019 Westlake Theatre Season!  We welcome WIT: Westlake Improv Troupe to the stage for an evening of pure, unadulterated, and unscripted improvisational comedy.  If you've never experienced a WIT show before, they are not to be missed.

We follow up the show with a social event for all students who are interested in learning more about what Westlake Theatre has to offer and how to get involved! (Returning Westlake Theatre folks are always welcome!)

"Night of the Living Dead"

The zombie classic brought to life on stage with all the vintage vibes you could imagine. (Warning: Rated PG-ish for zombie effects and blood.) Tickets will be available at the box office beginning at 6:15pm each evening. Doors open at 6:30pm. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Special "Night of the Living Dead" Events:

  • Thursday, October 25 - Talkback with cast and crew post-show (FREE post-show event)

  • Friday, October 26 - Post-Show "Zombie Prom" Dance & Party in the Ninth Grade Cafeteria (Admission $2 in addition to show ticket)
    Beginning at approximately 8:30pm, expect to hear live bands and dance the night away in zombie attire. Costumes not required, but certainly appreciated. The evening will close out at 10:30pm.

Adults and children alike will learn a lot from Alexander as he navigates this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.  It's enough to make anyone want to go to Australia.
Ticket information will be available in October 2018.

WIT will take the stage again to kick off the second semester on January 11 at 7pm in the Black Box Theatre.  Admission for WIT performances is always by donation only.  These shows fill up fast, so be sure to arrive early to get the best seats!

WINTER SHOWCASE

Westlake Theatre students will take their talents to the stage to present a variety show that will include short scenes, monologues, 10-minute student directed plays, and musical numbers.  Admission is by donation only.  Winter Showcase is always chock full of surprises and amazing talent.

3rd Annual Westlake Theatre PlayFest

If you missed this the past two years, DON'T MISS IT THIS YEAR.  Westlake Theatre's Playfest returns in a new format: creative students will work collaboratively to write, cast/audition, rehearse, direct, and ultimately perform a series of short original works... all in the span of 24-hours.  

This festival will serve as a fundraiser for our students traveling in August 2019 to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. More information (including admission, show times, and how to get involved) will be posted in December 2018.

UIL One Act Play

Our UIL One Act Play show title will be announced in Fall 2018.  This 40-minute, ensemble-based, "festival" production will audition in January.

Spring Showcase

The Westlake Theatre Spring Showcase performances will be a variety of scenes, monologues, musical numbers, and student directed short plays.  Theatre III & IV students are the focus of this event, but all Westlake Theatre students are given the opportunity to take the stage!  Admission is by donation only to this Black Box event.

Student Directed One Act Plays (SDOAP 2019)

The shows you've waited all year long to see!  This series of short plays will be directed by advanced theatre students.  Audition dates are typically in late March or early April.  Show titles and specific show performance dates will be made available at that time. All shows take place in the Black Box Theatre.
